I’m going to preface any predictions I make for the New England Patriots by saying that the regular season means absolutely nothing. That is the lesson to be learned from the last few seasons. The Patriots went undefeated during the regular season in 2007 and we know how that ended. Much will be written and said about the deficiencies of the defense. I’ll give them a pass, no pun intended, until I see what they do when they get everyone healthy. Last year, everyone was criticizing the defense prior to Thanksgiving. They finished as one of the best defenses in the league in December, however, giving up 7 points or less in four of the last five games. I’ll give them time.

I think Stevan Ridley goes for over 140 yards rushing. The Ravens gave up 122 yards per game during the regular season. As long as the Patriots don’t run the ball inside the tackles all the time, but make the Ravens defenders run sideline to sideline, there will be opportunities. Remind the aging Ravens defenders this will be their 19th game of the season.

Wes Welker carried the receiving corps on his back yet again. He has stepped up even more, as if that were even possible, with the loss of Aaron Hernandez. Despite being the indisputable top option for Brady, the Raiders were unable to stop Welker. Welker finished with 9 receptions for 158 yards and one touchdown. Notably, he has been running deeper routes this season than in the past. In prior years the Patriots relied on deep threats like Randy Moss to extend defenses to open cheerleader websites up the shorter routes for Welker. This year, it looks like Welker is the one extending defenses.

Josh Brown-Kicker: The Rams kicker has looked great in the preseason and has kicked a field goal of 60 yards. Brown is a good long range field goal kicker and has been consistent. He is certainly worthy of a pick as your number one kicker.

Most importantly, for the Ravens, Ray Lewis announced prior to the playoffs that this would be his last season. The news appeared to be just the spark the team needed. Baltimore had lost four of their last five regular season games, but responded with victories at home against the Indianapolis Colts and on the road against the number one seed Denver Broncos.

The Patriots defensive line is in shambles. Defensive ends Myron Pryor and Mike Wright have missed practice all week. At points in the last game, the Patriots had to resort to lining up cornerback Kyle Arrington in a three-point stance as a pass rusher. The Pats will need to rattle Sanchez to prevent him from getting the ball to his talented receivers.

While Brady clearly had control of the game, one thing that is out of his reach is the much talked-about topic of his hair. After constant questions from the press and comparisons to teeny bopper Justin Bieber, Brady explained that his long locks are controlled by wife Gisele Bundchen.
