MMA ODDS AND ENDS FOR FRIDAY: UFC LONDON GETS TILL VS. MASVIDAL, EDWARDS VS. NELSON

UFC London is set using its own main and co-main event. The card takes place March 16 at The O2 Arena in London, England, and also my ideas on both new high-profile spells added into the card are under.
Darren Till vs. Jorge Masvidal, UFC Fight Night 147
An intriguing welterweight matchup involving Darren Until and Jorge Masvidal is set since the headlining five-round battle at UFC Fight Night 147. ESPN broke the information. Until (17-1-1) is 5-1-1 overall at the UFC and in his final bout endured his first career loss by entry to winner Tyron Woodley in UFC 228. Till remains one of the most popular fighters in the branch, and all Europe, so despite the loss he always made a great deal of sense to headline this card in London. He flirted with the notion of going around middleweight but decided to stay at welterweight to get his hands on Masvidal, who stylistically should put on a good struggle against Till. Masvidal (32-13) is 9-6 overall from the UFC and has not fought since a 2017 decision loss to Stephen”Wonderboy” Thompson. He hasn’t actually won a fight in nearly two years since a TKO win over Donald Cerrone, but is still obviously a skilled and dangerous fighter. Masvidal was presumed to fight Nick Diaz in UFC 235, but that fight fizzled and he’ll now take on forever.
I’m expecting a really competitive struggle between Till and Masvidal, however given that he is from England and considering all the betting support he generally gets, I fully expect Till to be the preferred here. I do think it’s a close fight but would definitely be interested in Masvidal if he’s available at a plus amount.
Leon Edwards vs. Gunnar Nelson, UFC Fight Night 147
As well, a welterweight bout between contenders Leon Edwards and Gunnar Nelson will function as co-main event of UFC Fight Night 147. Edwards (16-3) is 8-2 at the UFC and is actually riding a silent six-fight win streak at the moment using a decision win over Donald Cerrone in his final outing. He’s quietly evolved to one of the best welterweights in the UFC, but was waiting to get his hands on a top-10 opponent. He has finally found a taker in the kind of Nelson, who’s coming off of a huge win over Alex Oliveira in UFC 231. Nelson (17-3-1) spanned a 1.5 years layoff into the Oliveira battle but absolutely dominated him to get a few of the biggest wins of his UFC career to date. He’s never risen to the championship level that lots of observers of the game expected he at a point in time, but he’s nonetheless proven himself to be a solid fighter at 170lbs, along with the win over Oliveira revealed just how good he’s at his finest.
This seems like a different competitive fight. Edwards has proven a yearlong game in his last couple of fights but Nelson is obviously a incredibly-dangerous finisher and is coming off of a large win. Depending on the recent triumph over Oliviera I’d guess Nelson is pegged as the favorite here, but I think Edwards could have a lot of dangers in what should be a really close fight.
